Ken the Cat: The Game
Ken has escaped the greetings cards and got into a box. Flip, match and slap your way through a fast, chaotic little card game where quick hands and sharp elbows win, and Ken's Power Cards ruin everything.
- Age 12+
- 2 to 5 players
- 30+ minutes
- 75 cards
Sold out at Pikkii right now. Ken is unbearable about it.
Made and sold by Pikkii. You'll finish your order over there.
Seventy five cards and a litter tray.
A two part box with spot UV detailing, and the base doubles as the litter tray where your mistakes go to die. Plastic-free, printed with soy inks.
How to play
Four things to know. The rest you'll pick up by getting it wrong.
Deal fifteen each
Face down, no peeking. The rest go in the litter tray. Whoever petted a cat most recently goes first, then clockwise.
Flip a card
Turn your top card face up in the middle. Pink backs go on the Item pile, blue backs go on the Ken pile. Orange ones are trouble.
Snap the match
Two cards showing the same object? Slap that pile. If the match spans both piles, you slap both at once, or it doesn't count.
Take the lot
Winner takes the pile, sticks it at the bottom of their hand and plays on. First to hold every card in play wins.
Get it wrong and two of your cards go in the litter tray, out of play for good. Ken suggests removing your rings first, to avoid scratches.
Ken's Power Cards
Orange fronts. They go off the second they land. Two identical Power Cards in a row can be snapped, but the action still belongs to whoever played it, not whoever snapped it.
SNATCH
Fist on the pile, knuckles down, drag it in. Taking a few cards off other players on the way is encouraged, and hilarious.
A*&@HOLE KEN
Swap your entire hand with someone else's. Down to your last card? Take theirs and knock them out of the game.
SPLIT & PICK
They split their hand under the table. You pick one of them, blind. Choose badly and that is entirely on you.
PARTY TIME!
Everyone has to clap once before they're allowed to slap. Watch three grown adults forget how hands work.
FEED ME!
Take five cards. No discussion, no notes.
FEED ME! FEED ME!
Take ten. Aim it at whoever is nearly out of cards and end them there and then.
Questions about the game
Ken would answer these himself but he's asleep on the box.
Where do I actually buy it?
Over at Pikkii, who make it. We don't sell the game on this site, so the button sends you to them.
How many people can play?
Two to five, ages 12 and up. A game runs 30 minutes or so, longer if anyone argues about a snap, which they will.
Is it just Snap with a cat on it?
No. Snap is the engine, the Power Cards are the point. Hands get swapped, piles get snatched and someone always goes out in a way they didn't see coming.
What's in the box?
75 game cards, the litter tray and the instructions. The box is two parts with spot UV detailing, and the base is the litter tray.
What happens if I run out of cards?
You're still in. You can keep snapping and snatching, but anything you win goes straight to the litter tray rather than your hand.
Twelve quid. One evening ruined.
The game lives at Pikkii. They make it, they ship it, they'll deal with you far more politely than Ken would.
